Ipswich Golf Club: Purdis Heath
A Hidden Gem in The Greens Series 2026 Lineup
Prepare to discover one of the true treasures of English golf: Purdis Heath, home of Ipswich Golf Club – ranked 47th best course in England, and steeped in character, charm, and history.
Golf first arrived here in 1895 on the open grounds of Rushmere Heath. But it wasn’t until 1926 that the legendary James Braid transformed the course into the stunning layout we know today. By 1928, the newly designed course officially opened – with legends Braid, J.H. Taylor, and a young Henry Cotton among the first to walk its fairways. Cotton would go on to become a three-time Open Champion – and it all began here.
While Purdis Heath is celebrated for its year-round playability and beautiful heathland design, it’s also home to a cherished tradition: the Queensland Cup. This annual match between Ipswich Golf Club and Rushmere Golf Club pays tribute to their shared beginnings. Though fiercely contested, locals fondly call it the Friendship Cup – a symbol of respect, camaraderie, and legacy.
Now, it’s your turn to walk in their footsteps, soak in the history, and enjoy a course as welcoming as it is challenging.
Continue the legacy.

Ranked 58th Best Course on the Planet
Home to England Golf and the National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa is a place where tradition, excellence, and the spirit of the game come together. And in 2026, it proudly hosts The Greens Series.
Golf first arrived here in 1891, though the original course lasted just four years before the land was repurposed. A quick revival followed with a new 9-hole layout, reuniting the village’s famous spa waters with its growing passion for golf. By 1895, further town expansion led to a final move and it’s here the club has remained ever since.
Thanks to Stafford Vere Hotchkin, a sandy tract of land became the foundation for something special. In 1905, The Hotchkin Course officially opened with a star-studded exhibition match featuring Harry Vardon, J.H. Taylor, and James Braid. That day, Taylor and Braid set a course record of 68, a fitting start for a course destined for greatness.
In 1911, legendary designer Harry Colt was brought in to reimagine the layout. His vision still shapes much of the course we know today. Over the years, both Hotchkin and his son Neil helped evolve the course, with Neil going on to serve as President of the English Golf Union.
In 1995, the course became the official property of the English Golf Union. This led to the creation of a second course, The Bracken - and in 1998 the dream of a National Golf Centre became a reality.
Be part of the legacy.

Slayley Hall Hotel Spa Golf Resort - Hunting Course
Often called the “Augusta of the North,” this remarkable course even boasts its own version of Amen Corner - a nod to its beauty, challenge and prestige.
The heart of it all is The Hall, originally built between 1912 and 1914 as a grand hunting lodge by the Hunting family. Since then, it’s changed hands twice more, with its most transformative chapter beginning in 1980, when visionary golf resort developers Seamus O’Carroll and John Rourke took ownership. Their ambition? To create one of the premier golfing destinations in the UK. They succeeded!
In 1988, renowned course designer Dave Thomas brought that vision to life, crafting a championship course that was ahead of its time. Stretching over 7,000 yards and featuring sweeping fairways and beautifully undulating greens, it was designed not just to impress, but to challenge the very best.
It delivered! The course has hosted 20 European Tour events, the European Seniors Tour, the PGA Cup and numerous Asian Tour tournaments. Legends of the game, from Retief Goosen and Colin Montgomerie to Lee Westwood, have all battled for glory here, especially during the famed Great North Cup between 1996 and 2002.
Being part of this event means more than just playing a round of golf. It’s walking in the footsteps of champions, surrounded by the stunning Northumberland countryside. Every swing, every step offers a connection to golfing greatness whilst set against a backdrop that’s as breath-taking as the game itself.

Tucked away in the heart of the stunning Kent countryside lies one of the UK’s best-kept golfing secrets. A pristine parkland course that’s as beautiful as it is challenging. From tee to green, the quality is nothing short of world-class. It’s no surprise this gem proudly hosted the Faldo Future Series 2024 and has been a cornerstone of the Henry Cooper Junior Masters since 1998. This isn’t just a course, it’s a crown jewel of Kent golf.
Designed in 1992, it may be one of the youngest stops on the Greens Series 2026, but don’t be fooled - this course packs decades of character. Expertly carved into the natural contours of the landscape, its clever layout winds gracefully through woodland and water. With three sparkling lakes influencing play on multiple holes, this course demands precision, strategy and a cool head.
This is golf at its purest. Elevated by the magic of twilight. As the sun dips low, casting golden shadows across manicured fairways, you’ll experience one of the most unforgettable rounds of your season. Great golf, great company and the thrill of competition.
This is what the Greens Series is all about.

Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club - Old Course
A Storied Heritage Rooted in Nature
Founded in 1888 as the Ashdown Forest and Tunbridge Wells Golf Club, Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club quickly distinguished itself with its natural charm. The Old Course, designed initially by W. R. Lee, saw refinements from Harry Hunter in 1892, and significant changes by the legendary Jack Rowe in 1897 and 1922.
Just five years later, in 1893, the club earned its “Royal” designation after a visit from Prince George, Duke of Cambridge a nod to its growing prestige.
Meanwhile, on the woodland side, the Ladies’ Club, established in 1889 and only the second of its kind in England, gained its own Royal status in 1932, the same year its course was expanded to 18 holes. Post-war, the ladies merged with the men’s club, and their course was rechristened as the West Course in 2002.
Approaching 140 years of untouched beauty, this course remains unaltered by modern engineering. No moved earth, no artificial bunkers, just the rugged elegance of heather, humps, hollows and streams crafted by nature. A course that in today’s era, is short in length (6,500yrds) but demands finesse and high level accuracy.
Stroll through timeless elegance, where every step tells a story and every hole invites connection. Share laughter with friends and experience the game you love on one of the most unforgettable walks across a Top 100 UK golf course.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Experience the Legacy of Littlestone Golf Club
Step onto the fairways of Littlestone, where golf has been part of the landscape since 1888. Nestled along the East Kent coast, this iconic links course was crafted by Club Captain William Laidlaw Purves—who also designed the legendary Royal St George’s—alongside professional golfer David Herd. Together, they created a course that has stood the test of time and continues to captivate players from around the world.
Littlestone’s influence stretches far beyond Kent. In the early 1900s, Charles Blair Macdonald - one of the founding fathers of golf course architecture in the United States, visited the course and was inspired by its 16th hole. So much so, he echoed its brilliance in the design of the 4th hole at Lido Golf Club, calling it “the finest two-shot hole in golf.”
Over the years, Littlestone has welcomed some of golf’s most esteemed course designers. James Braid, then professional at Walton Heath, brought new character to the layout with his signature bunkering - most notably on holes like the 16th, where his artistic touch still shines. In 1924, the great Alister MacKenzie, famed for his work at Augusta National, contributed a detailed vision that helped shape Littlestone into the course we cherish today.
Now, it’s your turn to walk in their footsteps.
Join us for a round steeped in tradition, where the sea breeze, natural links terrain and rich history create a golfing experience like no other. Whether you're sharing the course with close friends or making new ones in our vibrant community, Greens GC invites you to discover golf as it was meant to be - timeless, challenging and unforgettable

Addington Palace Golf Club
Discover the Excellence of Addington Palace Golf Club
If you’ve had the pleasure of playing Addington Palace Golf Club, you know the feeling - the greens are a true highlight. Fast and true, year-round, they’re a testament to the club’s reputation for exceptional course conditions. It’s not just the greens that impress. The course offers a real test of skill, with its tree-lined fairways and undulating landscape providing a challenge that will keep you engaged from start to finish.
The rich history of Addington Palace dates back to 1778, when the palace was completed. It wasn’t until 1930 however, that the golf club was founded, with legendary five-time Open Champion J.H. Taylor and renowned course architect Fred Hawtree at the helm of its design. Together, they created a course that has only grown in character and appeal.
While the course has seen several changes since its original design, its charm remains. The most notable change came with the 16th tee-box. Once positioned high above the 15th green (to the left), it now sits to the right, below the green. Other adjustments, like the transformation of the original 3rd hole into the 9th, have enhanced the flow of the course, offering new challenges and rewards with every round.
Over the years, Addington Palace has welcomed some of the game's greats. From Ryder Cup player and club professional Fred Robson in 1931 to four-time Open Champion Bobby Locke in the 1950s, the course has hosted some of golf’s most iconic figures. Even comedy legend Ronnie Corbett was a member, having opened the clubhouse extension in 1977. With the club continuing to host prestigious events like the Surrey Amateur Championship, it’s clear that Addington Palace remains one of the finest golfing venues in the region.
Addington Palace Golf Club is more than just a course; it’s a true gem in Surrey’s golfing landscape, offering a blend of history, challenge and beauty that will inspire you every time you tee off.

Knole Park Golf Club
It all began in 1924, when Lord Sackville stepped up to the 1st tee and struck the inaugural drive on J.F. Abercromby’s stunning new creation. With that swing, Knole Park Golf Club was born.
Among the crowd that day was a 14-year-old caddie named Sam King - a name that would go on to echo through golfing history. From humble beginnings on that very course, King rose to the top of the game: Ryder Cup appearances, victories in major tournaments and decades of loyalty to the club he called home.
Set within one of the most breath-taking deer parks in the UK, Knole Park is alive with character, thanks in part to its herd of 350 wild deer that roam freely across the fairways. The course’s natural beauty, historic setting and strategic challenge have made it a magnet for elite competition. From hosting the British Senior Amateur to the prestigious Tillman Trophy and now the Greens Series in 2026, Knole Park has become a true championship venue.
Consistently ranked among the Top 100 courses in the UK, its Par 70 layout punches above its weight with a USGA rating of 73, a testament to the challenge that lies beneath the beauty. Carved through a 15th-century deer park, this is more than just a golf course. It’s a place where history, heritage and sport come together in unforgettable fashion.
